Description
A amazing sunrise on the horizon of the new Cape Henry Lighthouse. I thought the road sign added addtional character to the image. Construction was completed in 1881. Captured at Fort Story in Virginia Beach, this lighthouse stands approximately 157 feet tall and is located about 350 feet away from the original lighthouse. Currently active and managed by the US Coast Guard, the lighthouse is fully automated and absolutely beautiful. Although Fort Story is a military base, the lighthouse is open to the public. A pass is easily acquired at the security gate with some form of ID.
